Setting up a solid kayak raft has been a mainstay activity in most of the “learn to kayak classes” that I’ve instructed over the years. However, even my largest kayak rafts pale in comparison to that which I stumbled across on the Guinness Book of World Records website. According to their records, on September 24th, 2011 exactly 1902 paddled craft converged on the “One Square Mile of Hope” event on Fourth Lake in Inlet, NY in order to create the largest raft ever assembled. The event, hosted by the Central Adirondack Paddler’s Society, served as a fundraiser for breast cancer research and awareness. An awesome raft for an awesome cause!
