The Duct Tape Kayak had a great performance at this year’s Slocum River Challenge hosted by the Lloyd Center for the Environment in Dartmouth, MA. Alex powered the DT190 to a 3rd place finished in the Men’s Elite Single Touring Kayaks Division. His time was a quick 21:37 for the 2-mile salt-water course. Looks like the slight trim adjustments made to the DT190 helped improve its performance immensely!
KayakDave.com contributing author Steve Alexander took home the gold in the Men’s Master Single Touring Kayaks Division in an impressive time of 22:10. Congratulations on a job well done, Steve! Visit the Lloyd Center website for full results.
The Duct Tape Kayak was a big hit and received a lot of attention from race participants. We were especially moved by the story of a two-time cancer survivor who has regained her health and participated in this year’s event with her family! The New Bedford Standard Times was on hand to cover the event and ran an article on the 2012 Slocum River Challenge which featured the Duct Tape Kayak. The article can be viewed on their website, SouthCoastToday.com
Best of all, we were able to raise another $100.00 for Stand Up 2 Cancer! A special thanks to the Muirheads for their very generous donation. Our fundraising window ends next week so donate now if you haven’t already and be sure to check back for the final totals and raffle results!
