Photo of the Week: Winds of Change

Posted by on December 5, 2012

I took advantage of the spring-like weather earlier this week to take the Long walk down Plymouth Beach. It’s been years (probably 5 or more) since I’ve walked the beach but it was easy to pick up on how much things have changed. The washouts have grown in breadth and number, the scrub pines are noticeably taller, and the houses are a little more or less weathered. Certainly these years past have have taken their toll but there’s also some evidence of progress. The last time I walked the beach there was exactly one wind turbine in town; the residential-sized one that’s the subject of this photo. One can now spot no fewer than 5 industrial-sized turbines on the horizon (if you look carefully you can spot three in the photo)! This wonderful observation put a smile on my face. The spectacular sunset helped too!
