We are pleased to announce our newest addition to the Kayak Dave writing team. Henry Dorfman, aka “Captain Hank,” is a seasoned whitewater and sea kayaker from Cincinnati, Ohio. With over 20 years of watersport experience under his belt, Captain Hank holds an omnipresent list of paddling destinations including having paddled all five Great Lakes in a 5-day span, conquering Seward Alaska’s Bear Creek, trekking through the whitewaters of Costa Rica, and taking on the Gulf of California’s legendary Sea of Cortez.

As the founder of Cincypaddlers.org, the country’s largest local paddling club, he leads over 2,200 members annually during guided expeditions throughout the Midwestern and Southeastern United States. In addition, Captain Hank formally ran a regional paddling school under the Sierra Club, America’s largest outdoor grassroots organization which promotes outdoor adventure and environmental advocacy.
We are excited to have Captain Hank as a member of our online paddling community and are thrilled to hear his unique perspectives, stories, and insights into the paddling world.
