Take the 11th Annual Jordan Hospital Polar Plunge!

Posted by on February 17, 2013

If you’re looking for the opportunity to take a polar plunge in support of a great charity then it’s time to mark your calendars! The Jordan Hospital Club will be hosting their 11th Annual Polar Plunge on Long Beach in Plymouth, MA on Saturday March 2nd, 2013 at 10:30am. The event expects to attract over 600 participants willing to take the plunge in an effort to raise money for the Jordan Hospital Cancer Center. Organizers hope to raise $100,000 this year to push the 10 year total past the $1million mark!

Please do what you can to help the Jordan Hospital Club reach their landmark goal by taking the plunge, making a donation, or coming down to the beach to show your support! I’ve had the pleasure of participating in this event on three occasions in the past and it’s always a fun and rewarding experience. Diving into the chilly Atlantic in March is amazingly refreshing as is the feeling you get from supporting such an important cause!

Need more motivation to take the plunge?? Listen to this amazing, inspirational message from cancer crusader Colby James Peck of the Peck’s Polar Penguins plunge team:

Furthermore, if you’re a kayaker who paddles on cold water or plans to do so then I highly recommend participating in a polar plunge as a “training exercise.” As I mentioned in my article “Cold Water Training for Sea Kayakers” there’s no better way to develop respect for cold water than to take a dive in the middle of winter wearing nothing but your skivvies!

Hope to see you at The Plunge!
