Heroes on the Water (HOW) is a national, grass-roots organization with 36 local chapters that bring together wounded military personnel for guided kayak fishing excursions at no cost to these warriors or their families. Their mission is to help injured military personnel relax, rehabilitate, and reintegrate into society through their experiences on the water. Warriors spend quality time on the water with their peers, kayak fishermen, and other trained volunteers. They are taught the basics of kayaking and kayak fishing in adaptive ways such that these activities can be sustained and enjoyed for a lifetime. HOW programs offers injured military personnel suffering from visible and invisible wounds an outdoor therapeutic experience that yields independence, hope, and recovery.

The kayaking instructors at KayakDave.com are moved by the important work that HOW does for our veterans and agree that “every wounded warrior and their family deserves the opportunity to live a healthy and fulfilling life.” We believe that HOWs mission offers a unique and important step in this direction for these brave men and women. That is why 100% of the funds raised by our Duct Tape Kayak Project in 2013 will be donated directly to the Massachusetts Bay Chapter of Heroes on the Water! Our wounded warriors have made extraordinary sacrifices for our freedoms and we feel that this is the very least that we can do for them!

This season promises to be very exciting for the Duct Tape Kayak Project. Stay tuned for our presentation of the new-and-improved Duct Tape Kayak version 2.0 and our expanded schedule of events. We look forward to seeing you out there and hope that you will consider donating to this important cause!

Happy Paddling!

-Kayak Dave
