Last summer Cape Cod had its fair share of shark encounters including a few with coastal kayakers. Experienced kayak angler Issac Brumaghim had his own “too close for comfort” encounter with a Galapagos shark off the coast of Leeward Oahu Hawaii. It is shocking moments like this that make outdoor enthusiasts happy that they had the GoPro camera rolling.
While this video provides an exciting bit of entertainment, it should also be a lesson in always being aware on the water. Even the most seemingly predictable situations can turn dangerous in the blink of an eye. In addition, this video should be a reminder to all kayakers of the importance of wearing a PFD at all times, no matter how experienced you may be.
