Photo of the Week – “Bear Island Lighthouse”

Posted by on May 23, 2013

Bear Island Lighthouse

Here is an example of a more colorful photo of the Acadian coastline that I promised after posting the dreary “Cranberry Crossing” photo last week. The weather finally broke on the final day of our 2011 Acadia trip and I had the distinct pleasure of leading a small group of college friends that I had been camping with on a 3-hour tour of the waters near the entrance to Somes Sound. It was the perfect “Maine” paddling trip as we got to see seals, lobster boats, and rugged coastline. We even had the chance to take a quick break in the lee behind Bear Island where we were able to enjoy a magnificent view of Bear Island Lighthouse!

Credit for this photo goes to my friend and fellow photographer Steph Albero. When I asked if I could post some of her awesome photos from our trips to the site she replied in the affirmative and made sure to remind me that she “just takes pictures for the fun of it.” All I have to say is that Steph is one of the best photographers that I know and I hope that you enjoy her photos as much as I do!

Happy Paddling!
