Splish Splash Diaries Vol. 1

Posted by on July 11, 2013

I’ve decided to launch a special photo album on the KayakDave.com Facebook page that will highlight the more off beat moments in the lives of the KayakDave.com team (at least the PG-rated segments!). There’s no hiding the fact that kayaking instructors have a ton of fun at work. Couple that with a slow, hot day at the docks and you have the makings for a Splish Splash Dairies entry!

This week, the boss called down and asked us to clean off the old Jackson Mini-Tripper for a customer that was on their way to check it out. What better way to clean a kayak then to take it for a spin cycle in the lake??…

Corey takes the Mini Tripper for a ride...

Brett seems to be doing ok…

...but he eventually ends up under water too...

…but he eventually ended up under water too…

Note: the Jackson Mini Tripper is a kids kayak designed for use on calm water and for an ideal load of about 60-70lbs. Corey, the lightest of the group, weights twice the recommended load. It’s no wonder that the Mini Tripper morphed into a pseudo “squirt boat” for these guys! Also, if you own a Mini Tripper then we recommend that you install a floatation bag in the stern because it will definitely sink when you get it filled to the coaming with water like we did…

Happy Paddling!
